@tankmayvin

Yes, uninformed opinions should be completely dismissed.

Fortunately for Battlefield 1, it is a video game and not a simulator.

And no, a gun wouldn't get more accurate but its operator might. Which can perfectly be used as justification for negative spread.

Your soldier doesn't have a good feel for where the bullets will land but will adjust as he fires. Doesn't sound too farfetched.

No they should never be discarded at all. Every opinion is just as valid as the next. Otherwise it would be too easy to dismiss opinions with the uninformed argument that just happen to be different to our own opinion. We would not want that now, would we? :D

By the way as negative spread is really nothing realistic or authentic, would that not count as an uninformed opinion? ;)

The gun is not the deciding factor in any way, it roughly stays at the same accuracy from bullet 1 to 30 (I remove a heated barrel etc. from the equation for simplicity) it is the sole user that gets less accurate. Again you are holding 3-10kgs to your face, that will press with considerable force against your shoulder 120-900 times a minute. If you do 30 push-ups, which one do you think will be the hardest to do?

tankmayvin is saying that BF1 decoupled (again) the player from the mechanic through highly increased spread and this is what makes it unintuitive. The weapons are more controllable than ever yet less accurate. At the same time we still have aimpoints decoupled from the barrel and the optic.
Personally I do not see the point of so severely limiting the ranges of differen weapon classes through spread. Especially not if the only relevant engagement ranges are "morning boner close" and "Is that a tree stump?"-far away.

Uninformed opinions will always hold less weight than informed opinions. It doesn't automatically dismiss the uninformed opinion, but it certainly won't be the preference. For example, whose opinion would you trust for, say, an Italian restaurant that you have never eaten at? The guy who dislikes Italian food and has never been or the guy who has been to the restaurant and has actually eaten there?
To Aim Assist or not to Aim Assist, that is the question.

Nope. Aim Assist or bust; here's why:

For example, whose opinion would you trust for, say, an Italian restaurant that you have never eaten at? The guy who dislikes Italian food and has never been or the guy who has been to the restaurant and has actually eaten there?
That comparison doesn't make any sense. The guy who admits to disliking italian food and has never eaten at it clearly lacks the depths of experience and expertise to tell you, someone who might enjoy italian food whether or not the restaurant is of any value. His opinion is therefore less than worthless in that context.

The reason some of us argue against more recoil and less spread is because the camera would shake way too much if suitable replacement values were used.

Well then, at least SOME more recoil and just SOME less spread.

A little bit is still better than nothing.

a little rant about BF in the spoiler

Spoiler Spoiler

Hell, I dont even play the game, and I am not interested in buying it, because simply watching it in YouTube isnt very interesting for some reason. It certainly cannot be the weapon mechanics problem, because I dont "feel" it as i dont play it. There's something else the issue, but I cant spot it.

I want to have FUN when playing games. And doing well in a shooter is a huge part of having fun, when you join a server on your own. But in Battlefield and BF1 inparticular its so chaotic and I even see how many die because of an uncontrollable engagement by an aircraft. and the aircraft is just one example. The difficult to spot enemies because they merge with the environment.

In this game the player cannot develop his skill if he has some kind of handicaps e.g. me actually seeing the merged enemies with the background. If the player models would stand out just a bit more by, idk being brighter or having a small frame around them, which would look like sun reflection a lot would be gained.

Or the interface. Its a lot more well done than in BF4, but I need a better indication of how high my health is. Either increase the size of the health bar and move it to top or include it in the overall picture by decreasing the saturation or having a color activated, which doesnt fade out over the full 100 %, but should only start to fade out once the health is above 75 or 80 %.

Then they should introduce the Fucking Ammo Regen. At least for the gadgets, if I need all my gadgets back I need to respawn or sit on an ammo crate for an eternity. I am fine with refilling ammo for your primary entirely from ammo crates, but please the gadgets!

Reduce soldier speed.

Better Getting-HIT indication

Give me a HUD indicator specifically for aircraft (for tanks would be awesome too)

In general create a map which flows and makes movement between objectives both efficient AND viable with any kind of weapon.

Yes, I am basically asking to make the game more casual friendly by adapting the visual and other sorts of feedback to the player. I want it to be simple for stupid, but also effective.

I am not a game designer and I found a lot of stuff that drags me away from the game everytime I watch some content of it.

Its not a good thing not to have any own thoughts, but mindlessly repeating somebody else.

Actually, I was just having Overwatch UI and design in mind and I just pulled stuff over to BF1. Its another game I dont play but watching it is actually entertaining and everything what is going on is instantly feasable.

Ah that is actually your own post? I thought you pulled that from reddit or something. I genuinely liked it, hence the rep. It is not mindlessly repeating anything, the text catered to me, because I am frustrated by the lack of visibility, it probably caters to Noctyrne as well because he likes Ammo regen. Tankmayvin and a couple of others argued that they forget to put the fun in this game. Someone made a suggestion about a clearer notification of aircraft.

So you basically added an opinion which is a blend of many different POVs. I think it's great, but I am the cosy guy in the forums right now. :D

Honestly if you agree with someone why not chime in as well? Also, I did not know that you do not play the game, I just assumed you do, and why would anyone think this is lress relevant?

Except that negative spread is unique to LMGs, and shooters correct via moving their aimpoint, which isn't how spread works at all.

So can't you pretend that the FSSM is just the operator getting their (not yours) aimpoint thrown off?

If we go the random recoil route, we get screenshake simulator and raise the possibility of inducing motion sickness for what spread could easily do.

That is not fun either.

Unity3D: Random vRecoil Demo - YouTube

That's nothing but personal preference, attempted to be made more objective by claiming something fairly irrelevant may possibly happen. Also, that video looks fine.

Also, no one is asking for literally no spread and all recoil, this is about shifting the focus on a sliding scale. More focus on recoil helps improve and/or solve many feels/intuitive issues with the game (something the community has been very vocal about, whether they can always pinpoint the exact issue or not), while the only real argument in favour of spread has been... personal preference.
