What are your thoughts on the Chauchat with this upcoming TTK patch?

I think the Chauchat LW, M1917 LW, and Huot LW will be incredibly good post patch. The Parabellum and Madsen will remain good. I think the BAR (ADS speed nerf) and MG15 (bipod nerf) will suffer comparatively as all the TTKs get pulled closer together

I will also have a very very special Chauchat section when I make my Medic Rifle TTK-Patch Scoring thread next week. What does this have to do with the Chauchat you might ask? Single firing the Chauchat's new damage model is unbelievably effective if you treat it like an SLR even with first shot multipliers. I am guessing it will look at lot like the M1907 Factory when all is said and done, with better moving spread and a better damage model.

Oooh, I am excited to read that! I wonder if I'll end up going back to the Chauchat more...

With the new TTk update on the CTE that makes the ADS times much worse for LMGs, do your recommendations change at all?

From the before/after video I saw, the ADS nerf wasn't that noticeable? Or did they make it even worse?

Also, I made a thread suggesting ADS times when on the bipod should be unaltered, since if you're on the bipod you're already playing defensively and shouldn't be further penalized. Marbleduck made a comment suggesting that may already be true; anyone have some insight on that?

Despite having 25 days of playtime and close to 40,000 kills, the Browning Tele has already become my weapon with the most kills. I'm also rocking a much higher KPM with it over any other LMG (1.7), even higher than the mighty Parabellum, which I use much more aggressively. It's closest cousin, my previous long range fave the BM Tele, is way down at 1.1 kpm.

It turns out when you're not constantly reloading, you can get way more kills. Who knew?

BAR Tele is amazing.

MG15 is still great, in fact I'd argue it's better on bipod now, as while there's a bit more H-Recoil, the initial spread bump is gone allowing for amazing bursting ability.

Anyone try the new LMG on the cte for the Apocalypse DLC?
I played a couple hours with it, might be my new fav...600 RPM, comes in LW and Suppressive. LW has 100 rounds, suppressive has 200.
Much better recoil than the Parabellum, and only a slightly slower fire rate - I think it is a nice balance between the MG1917 and the Parabellum. I found myself smiling when I was using it...just beastly. Hoping they don't nerf it...

BAR Tele is my favorite, but if I'm playing ranged, then I'll go for Madsen lw.

Quoted

I like the M1917 Browning Telescopic because of the bullet and overheat.

What it really shines with is its synergy with Pin Down and Unbreakable.

It fires long enough to actually put Pin Down to good use and doesn't have poor ranged damage.
I dont know about the Browning telescopic, but for the BM telescopic is painful to use under the current TTK.

It takes so long to kill an actual person, that is moving and dancing, that it is better for you to not shoot at all. If you have to move closer, you are better off with the iron sight variants.

Personally Madsen wins it for me, with 1.25x for LW and 1.5x for Storm. The accuracy I got for the Madsen is also among the highest out of all LMGs.

I generally agree with you. The M1917 (Low Weight for me) is really fun to use, but it's just so slow. I second @NoctyrnSaga that it requires the combination of Unbroken + Pin Down + M1917 in >1 second bursts for it to really be effective.

I pretty much run nothing but:

Long range offensive: Madsen LW

Long range defensive: M1917 LW (because here I only care about quantity not quality - my teammates can mop up suppressed and winged enemies)

Mid-range PTFO: Madsen LW

Mid-range defensive: Parabellum LW

Repair: Madsen Storm for reliability

CQC: Parabellum LW

Have you tried the new LMG on the CTE? The 08/18 - it's pretty amazing. I could see it being the new #1 support gun

So, the "TTK Patch" dropped today? Sure feels like it, as I got kicked off the EA Servers at midnight Pacific last night, then had to grab a 6GB update, then played a round of Cape Helles this morning before work.

If so, may I put in a vote for the Lewis Gun Optical? 40+ rounds of 6BTK with no overheat before you have to reload. Historically as well it is the "best" LMG in WW1: just ask the Canadian Expeditionary Force.

I personally find the scoped LMG ADS time post TTK patch too long for my playstyle. Also, for some reason I do not find much difference in TTK with the "normal" LMGs. My hypothesis is that reducing the "last bullet" for LMG does very little because for a lot of the LMGs the last bullet is very accurate. However the TTK shift is quite noticeable on the Ribeyrolles, where the last bullet is the least accurate.

On the other hand, I find that the Chauchat LW being a lot more consistent, with 4BTK max. Using it vs the Madsen LW post patch feels like night and day. Basically the Chauchat is the king of LMG for me right now.
