Well, I do not know, making the fighters usable is good, I do not know if it will break up the usage meta in any way though.

The biggest problem still remains unadressed, the FOTM mentality that is enforced.

Reddit disagrees.

They think having the same hp/s on a shorter cycle equates to a nerf.

They're not even considering that the window for interrupting repair just decreased by close to 40%.

Seriously? They can't even fathom that if you have constant hp/s and let the cycle length tend to zero, it clearly becomes more useful. It's embarrassing that DICE takes them so seriously in that case...

I wonder if DICE are implementing this to balance out the Emergency Repair nerf. Because, I have to admit, this could be a pretty big buff to tanks and is the only thing questionable here.

"Yay! DICE is nerfing tanks!!!" - BF sub-Reddit

Evidence to the fact that they can never be taken seriously.

In the patchnotes feedback I have so far only read two comments about that change, everything is about the AAs. One comment said it was a straight buff and the other one was suggesting a nerf to make self-repair only give 5% health. So anyone saying there is a great majority of the playerbase behind the change is so far is largeley exaggerating.
One could argue that constant self-repair is now more mandatory which could increase the tank downtime, but generally I do agree that it is a buff simply because one recon with K-bullets will have a hard time interruptng self-repair now. The problem really is not the amount it resotres or how fast it does that, it is the fact that self-repair exists that is a potentially huge balance issue.

I just read about the Stationary changes, too. I wonder if that counts for the HMGs as well. I generally like the idea, but there is one glaring issue in this game and that is that the repair tool is a gadget for support and is therefore not used, because everybody runs with ammo as one should and a tool to help killing. So you get a decent and rewarding balance between teamwork and killing potential.
I do think Assault would be better off with the repair tool, although I do not know if you would see more repair tools, since you can not kill a vehicle with any ONE AT gagdet, which was not the case in BF3 and 4 where you would often run the tool anyway.
The absolutely best solution, and I do not know who brought it up here, but that guy was a genius, would be to make the wrench a class-specific melee weapon. Easy, elegant and as a solution so simple that one would wonder why nobody has come up with that before. You would automatically see more repair tools, more repairs and could balance repair times from there. Heck you could totally scrap the self-repair then, too.

The way I see it, the stationary changes are again something that sounds very good on paper, but when desperately needed, they might not be available at all, and will stay so for a long time. You can also then not use them as a direct answer to a spontaneous threat, which is something they are supposed to be. It stems from the same thinking that brought the 30 second mortar spawn delay to Battlefield. If I think something needs to be done about that plane/tank/roof camper then I do not want to redeploy, wait for a long downtime to engage a threat that will very likely have moved on or has been taken care of already.
However I do think the change is a right step but they now need to think about the repair tool, and should do so fast.

Im not much of a tank guy but i do like this:

Removed damage reduction while in charge. Weapons will now hit charging players for normal damage.

Should cut down on the kamikaze bayonet charges into crowds.

The changes to the tank repair cycles promotes solo play more, I dont like it at all.

The changes to the howitzer tank dont have any logic to them. They're making it an assault tank. Removing you know... the howitzer gun.

The troublesome artillery truck is being left completely untouched. As are the lacking AT weapons for infantry in relation to ricochet.

I dont think DICE is seeing the issues with tankbalance here.

Howitzer Tank:

Corrected primary weapon to HMG as shown in customization, was actually LMG. The more powerful HMG should help offset its limited firing arc when compared to the Coaxial LMG of the Close Support Variant.
Added 3p freelook to the FT Howitzer Variant. Missed this one with the other tanks because the normal version has a turret that can rotate 360 anyway.

where does it say that?

@Iwo_Jima

You are completely mistaken. The FT Howitzer will be receiving an HMG rather than an LMG. It still retains the 75mm HE.

This is what it is:

Driver LMG -

Reload = 3.6s
Rate of Fire = 599
Velocity = 870m/s
Gravity = 15m/s^2
Drag = 0.0027
Start Damage = 21
End Damage = 15
Drop Off Start = 20m
Drop Off End = 50m

This is what it will change to*:

HMG -

Reload = 3s
Rate of Fire = 480
Velocity = 740m/s
Gravity = 0m/s^2
Drag = 0.0025
Damage Start = 26.5
Damage End = 17.5
Drop Off Start = 20m
Drop Off End = 50m

*Provided these stats do not change.

---------------------------

The issue with tank balance are that the sole long range AT option (for Assault) is a joke for actual AT purposes in my perspective. It's more efficient to ignore tanks at range and run two close range AT options as Assault because the DPS is much, much higher with gadgets like AT Grenades, Dynamite, and AT Mines who specialize in quick burst damage. BF1's approach to gameplay is 'Teamwork or Bust' and this is especially true with tanks a.k.a force multipliers. You need Supports to constantly resupply Assaults in order for them to consistently fend off against tanks, because guess what? Tanks respawn. And pretty quickly relative to the average round of Conquest.

If only Supports weren't the sole method of resupplying and there was a way for good players to continuously have the gadgets they need to fulfill their roles. Anyone got any ideas? Anyone?

Supports are not the only way of resupplying, there are re-deploy button and picking up another assault's/support's kit. So if one is good, like you are suggesting, he will find the way. If you operate close to the front lines, like a good player would, there are plenty of bodies to pick from. There should be plenty of squad mates to re-deploy on. And then there is medic to revive fallen comrades with pockets full of dynamite. None of the above? Fall back soldier, find a new target a new place to be effective at. No, things won't work out the way you want them to EVERY time. This constant desire to make things straightforward and easily accessible is strange to me. What is this you are trying to achieve - some kind of arena shooter?
