The fact that rounds persist for hours is evidence enough to the fact that it's a truly balanced game mode; it's a game of tug of war, you can't get more evenly matched than tug of war whose teams' skill is properly distributed. The broken team balancing of BF1 is irrelevant. The thing is that Frontlines is nothing new to FPSs as it existed in Unreal Tournament (I believe, I could be misremembering a conversation Darktan and I had on TeamSpeak), it's just new to Battlefield.

the Sebstalder is quiet good since it can 3hit kill at any distanc ,but In my opinion i actually thikn the sweeper is better, its got a really really fast firerate that can beat alll those Noobmaticos, Helregall adn shitguns in close quarters , and its also really accurate out to like l;ong range,. overall great allround gun, jsut my 2$ tho

No it's not.

It's evidence that if you concentrate enough virtual firepower over a narrow enough area of virtual battlespace it is almost impossible to achieve decisive advantage.

If they wanted to replicate a meta-simulation/interpretation of WW1 in BF1, they have succeeded handedly with Frontlines.

That doesn't make it a good, or balanced, or even fun gamemode. It just makes it the logical result we've seen in every BF title where the terrain prevents people from spreading out and maneuvering to find situational advantage.

FL could be won decisively if people manpiled onto/into tanks, spammed repairs and rotated through smoke grenades and just crawled onto objectives. But people aren't THAT interested in working as a team, certainly not when it involves playing deliberately sacrificially, even when their playing in sacrificial anyway.

Well, still waiting for timer being enabled and really hoping that DICE would make all maps for this gamemode, cuz it's really good for true infantry fighting, without flying circus or steel hedgehogs on steroids(CO:Tanks).

While I think Frontlines is (for once) a well-designed new mode (the other notable one being Operations), I definitely lose interest playing far faster than anything else in the game. Ops has multiple objectives, planes, more open areas that provide more options and tactics, and the asymmetry and especially progression keeps things interesting, to say nothing of the immersive/storytelling sort of aspects.

Frontlines is... just kinda bland to me. No planes, not even transports IIRC, tanks just sit at a distance and spam even more than any other mode, with stalemate-y, bash-two-factions-together fighting. Honestly it's like a larger, open version of any of the meatgrinder maps. It's not a bad mode; I do have fun with it sometimes and it was handy for the 15-kills-in-a-round assignments, but overall it's just pretty bleh.


Really, we already had too many modes at launch, so I'd much rather see all this dev time go to other areas. Either different new content or fixing/improving what we already have, especially if it's going to only be on the DLC maps.

BF1 just needs chainlink...... Whereas frontlines is fun and I don't see it dying off until this dlc does, I do frequently find myself being like ' fuck it taking a break.' even more so once the winning sides been determined(and by winning side I don't mean steamroll but contesting).

Why do you think Conquest is shit though? I wonder, I still think it is the benchmark mode, although it suffers greatly from poor map design and the new ticket mechanic. Frontlines is just, while surprisingly fun, a mindless clusterfuck. Basically the BF1 iteration of a 33+ player round of Metro/Locker. Conquest still offers more dynamic gameplay, has all vehicles available and well it is Conquest. I agree with more infantry gunplay, and less engagements, but I could have this with Domination as well. So I am genuinely interested why you do not enjoy Conquest as much as in BF4.

Also the new maps were obviously made with Frontlines in mind so I hope they will not add that mode to previous maps. I mean that is one of the m ain reasons why map design is so bad, because it needs to work on all modes.

No thank you, I will not do that. :D I can definitely cope with ViperFTW on Teamspeak screaming at me for jumping out of the tank to repair him before he told me to, but Darktan calmly talking me through the flaws of the BF franchise is something I could not bear. :D

For me it is solely a map design failure paired with wrong choices in the ticket system. It was the case for BF4 as well on many maps. There the overriding concept was to have one decidingly high vantage point with a barred wasteland around it. Obviously this doctrine has flaws. In BF1 the overriding maxime is obviously to ditch the absurdly high vantage point, but to cramp everyone into a very enclosed area with a falloutesque wasteland around it. Vehicle count and availability also play a role here as well as cover from above, but that is just minor compared to the flaws.

There are exceptions of course but the best way to go at it is too provide an all-around enjoyable experience for combined arms. That sounds really easy, is absurdly difficult of course, but there are examples in all games where it worked. Zavod and Caspian I think are appealing as well as Pearl Market and Karkand, but the true peak of map design for Conquest I still think is Azadi Palace. By the way, I remember this is also the only map that I thought worked equally good on any mode I played. Conquest was awesome, Domination and Scavenger in the Palace were great and I believe that Rush was rather balanced as well.
