Chauchat is a really... weird weapon

As if the previous BF1 LMG mechanic wasn't weird enough. Chauchat took a step further.

So I began to test the theory by tap firing this at mid-long ranges, and I was really weirded out by how well it does at it.


Summing up so far:
1. Use tap fire.
2. It's best to avoid direct conflict from 13m to 40m. (You lose to almost every guns!)
3. Finally something skill-intensive for a Support class.

I love where DICE's going with the gun balance now a day.
I've heard Helligel getting 120 bullets with Bipod. Keep on testing, DICE!

For me it just feels like I got my G3 back, or as close as I'll ever get. Hard hitting but slow firing to the point of almost being a weird crossbreed AR/ DMR.

I think it does work rather well, the damage model fits, also it has amazing iron sights for BF1 and the bipod helps a lot as well. I agree though that it would have fitted the medic as well.

:D Nah, I used the telescope first. I did pick up a kit on the second round I played with the other one though and went on to an awesome streak. However my mate picked up the Chauchat with the AA sights and he would not hit anything, he was complaining all the time, it was rather fun. I will try it at least once as well. I am very curious. :D

If you're not using Low Weight, you're a fucking goose.

LW really gives you an advantage when performing single taps. Single taps are a much more effective way of dealing damage, as you will then not be waiting on your spread recovery.

Telescopic is pretty much useless outside of bipod.

the Sebstalder is quiet good since it can 3hit kill at any distanc ,but In my opinion i actually thikn the sweeper is better, its got a really really fast firerate that can beat alll those Noobmaticos, Helregall adn shitguns in close quarters , and its also really accurate out to like l;ong range,. overall great allround gun, jsut my 2$ tho

I am enjoying this weapon immensely. It is very potent in CQC and has made one of my favorite play styles, single shots (akin to my SCAR and M60 playstyle) a viable reality. I do accomplish this somewhat with the Huot and to a lesser extent Benet Mercie, but these are far more situational. Quick single taps is actually pretty damn potent even below 20m as it avoids the considerable vertical and horizontal values.

I do find that the telescopic not very useful and I would much preferred a Trench version, but perhaps that strays too much in BAR Trench niche, though the BAR is far easier to use in terms of single targets

Overall a worthy addition to the game.

Perhaps they may consider a more defensive oriented very slow firing (<300RPM) LMG with a similar damage model but with higher controllability and a bigger magazine, perhaps an MG08/15 or MG08/18. It would be a high damage alternative to the Benet Mercie in which it sacrifices CQC effectiveness, both statistically and 'feel' in terms of clunkiness. 100 - 200 rounds of high damage? Would work beautifully on Rush, particularly defending
