This is the worst feature of all, the fact that you can bail without any drawbacks. This just increases the hate that pilots receive, too.

Yeah but who actually cares? Its mostly just salt. Pilot/Tanker classes are not the big scorers in the overall game meta despite the seemingly disproportional impact of the best of those players. Bailing is an emotional problem, not hugely gameplaying impacting problem.

Plane-taxiing in BF1 in any form, either deliberate pilot bailing, gunner jumping or opportunistic death defying is really just a surrogate for flying transports.

BF1 is one of the few BF titles with any air transport of any sort. Definitely the only core title without out one (1942, BF2, 2142, BF3, BF4, BF1).

C'mon tank, we've been over this before. Players don't like pilots who bail because it makes them feel cheated out of a well-deserved kill, and you know it's well-deserved because the plane armaments are all analog and donít have an automated/ lock-on component to them. And yeah, many players are kill-obsessed, what exactly is wrong with that? It's a huge reason why people play shooters of various types, to kill opposing players. If you spend X amount of time shooting down a plane and don't receive a kill for doing so, then it almost feels worthless. The knowledge itself that you shot down that player just isn't as satisfactory as seeing that confirmation pop up on the screen notifying that you killed XxXYOLOflyboyXxX. I want to make that bastard watch me in the kill cam and force him back to the spawn screen not just inconvenience him by taking his little plane away.
To Aim Assist or not to Aim Assist, that is the question.

Nope. Aim Assist or bust; here's why:

Meh. I engage enemy tanks when it presents the greatest opportunity to knock it out, not when I have the best guaranteed of scoring the killing blow. Vehicle kills with a chained multikill when it was full of blueberries is super juicy, but taking out the big bad so I can get back to the more lucrative stuff is what actually matters.

Same goes for fighter hunting. I want to kill the enemy fighter so that I can get back to strafing snipers and derping people with darts and not get my tail shot off in the process.

Plane killing isn't about getting a kill, irrelevant satisfaction aside. It's about getting rid of a big bad. Vehicle disables + destroys are worth basically 3 kills. The 4x is nice but it isn't require to make the experience worthwhile both in terms of points and killing bads.

Looks like the darts get a decent nerf in the latest CTE patch notes:

Ranken Darts:
Increased reload time from 12 to 15 seconds
Decreased blast damage from 20 to 16.7
Decreased blastradius from 3 to 1.5 meters
Direct damage no longer hurts soldiers

Kind of odd that a dart falling on your head no longer hurts you.....

The direct damage thing is likely to make them more consistent.

Direct damage didn't matter much before, you died just from being near the impact site(s). It's likely that the direct impact nerf was needed now because players may actually stand a chance of surviving if the darts where dropped from up high (=large dispersion at the ground).

And reading Youtube comments still gives me Turbo Cancer.

It really is quite frustrating when Helen Keller sets up her LMG in the only doorway in/out of an area.

What kind of question is that? Since when is cheese ever a bad idea?

Hardline is a fun and sometimes silly Cops and Robbers sorta thing and I think that's great. Or it would be if it didn't suck.

Ah does the range actually increase, when they get dropped from higher range through dispersion of the darts? I did not know that, but always wondered about the radius, since sometimes it would only kill one person or even as much as three that were roughly standing a bit away from one another.

They spread with fall distance, yes.

Pre changes you really didn't need to drop from that high to get multi-kills though, the cloud size is quite generous.

If the game designed made bailing unfavourable, people wouldn't do it.

Exactly. At the moment it's favourable for anyone who isn't the winning pilot. That's why winning pilots don't like it.
