update: on fort du vaux, the first game lasted 6 minutes, the french did a perfect score on the germans.

second match lasted... what? 95? 100 minutes? utterly absurd, the m-coms were lava pits.

the Sebstalder is quiet good since it can 3hit kill at any distanc ,but In my opinion i actually thikn the sweeper is better, its got a really really fast firerate that can beat alll those Noobmaticos, Helregall adn shitguns in close quarters , and its also really accurate out to like l;ong range,. overall great allround gun, jsut my 2$ tho

Really like the new gamemode - I'd go as far as to say that it's the best DLC gamemode DICE has released. Think it's an improvement over Operations - which also very much like - thing as you get both offensive and defensive objectives.

I've had the vague suspicion that gamemodes with linear or semi-linear flag progression - see Frontlines and Operations - are the way to go for a while now. There's a certain whack-a-mole nature to Conquest that I've felt makes that gamemode less strategics. With Frontlines and Operations, taking and losing ground feels more meaningful, thing as it can't be undone by a single guy backcapping a flag. By extension, successful flanks, though maybe rarer, have a greater impact on the battlefield in Frontlines and Operations.

Also, I could see Frontlines working as a 64 player gamemode if each "zone" or whatever had two flags instead of one and the MCOMs were replaced by flags.

I agree that Conquest is less strategic than in previous iterations of BF, but I do not see Frontlines as strategic at all, would you elaborate? For me it is just a frontline waging back and forth. At best it is like a stable Locker/Metro round. I had some fun rounds, but generally I still find the maps to open to employ movement tactics or think of strategic options.

It is way better than operations though for me, I'd say that. The mode kind of grows on me, but I still do not think it comes close to Conquest. It is likely better than Rush, CTF and TDM as well. In the broad context of gamemodes in the franchise I would still put Chainlink, Obliteration, Rush, Domination and Scavenger especially above it. I think it is as much fun as Carrier Assault or slightly better, if I had to compare everything.

I would sum it up as a small scale operation with focus on smaller scale infantry play, with more players though I do not think it would work in any way. As of now attacking the objectives is rathe runrewarding already with all that open field you have to cover.

Frontlines explicitly discourages backcapping which to me is probably the best feature. A cavalry unit running past your front line off on the side of the map can't just solo cap your gimme and force your team to move off their advance. The front line is always the best and most effective place to be and legitimate flanking requires some forethought and planning. You can't just potato rush a team's point and take it because it takes so long to capture points. You actually have to have your whole team advancing in a fashion that makes sense in the context of an actual battle.

Conquest is dead for me now, honestly. Frontlines is the superior gamemode in many ways with the possible exception of the rules making rounds potentially take a very long time.

Now the question is whether they will give the mode to future maps or even the base ones.
Something tells me they won't and instead will add some heavily flawed mode that will never get played after release, though I think a scavenger mode would be appropriate for the Russian DLC.

Played about an hour at... Soissons, I think, before I REALLY had to get to bed and so gave up. RIP ~40 RSC Optical kills (I think; don't think stats get counted if you're not present at the end-of-round).

"Back-capping" is still kinda "a thing," as quite a few times we failed the contest the next objective, returned to the previous objective, and while waiting for the previous objective to "unlock," an enemy squad was already there and waiting. If they had stayed better hidden, and if our failed push had a lot of casualties so we had fewer people returning, I can see that it is possible for the new objective to be lost almost immediately after unlocked.

In my game, the middle part was thrilling, yes... but after ~15min we got to the 2x Telegraphs part, they were the Germans and they had a fully-manned Tank Hunter Landship parked on the hill in their spawn, while our armour was (understandably? or maybe not understandably) stuck behind the village.

So, our infantry push would get murdered by MG15 and sniper fire and called-in artillery strikes, peter out, tickets gone. Previous objective unlocks, but they don't come out of the Telegraph area. We spawn, run to the back side of the "previous objective," cap it basically uncontested. Repeat. After doing that for 45min straight, and with one guy on the other team repeatedly typing "2 HOURS" and variations thereof into the chat box, I went to bed.

A time limit (30m? 45m? 60m?) and then winner declared based on current Frontline position would be nice. I'd also welcome no time limit and even 64p, if server is persistent and partial round stats get saved, so players can jump in and out as they please.

In fact, one of my fondest FPS memory is one of the later iterations of Delta Force (was it called Typhoon Rising? I think it was), that had 128p Frontline with day / night cycles. A single round would go all day... multiple days even.

Minus one tank on Soissons/Rupture and it'll be perfect. Also no getting killed by the Trench Fighter out of spawn is 10/10
