"The Model 8 is worstgun"

I swear to the Lord Tachanka, the amount of misleading videos that pop up in my YouTube recommended playlist from normie casual Battlefield YTers is astounding. People swearing up and down that the Hellriegel is the best gun in the game and that the Model 8 is worthless and that the bayonet adds vertical recoil among other things which just aren't true.

Case-in-point: https://youtube.com/watch?v=Yb1-G4pa5tw

^This video just came up in my recommended list on YT about 10 minutes ago. Gives it a fair shake but doesn't really get anywhere.

My question is this: is trying to disseminate good info worth when these people likely don't care anyway? Should we just keep all the good stuff to ourselves? This info (stats, various other data) is all readily available; all anyone has to do is look. The thing that also comes up is why would most people do any more digging if they just assume they're being given the correct info? It's to correct these mistakes alone that I think it might be worth but I don't know how many would be willing to listen.

The amount of misinformation as it comes to something as simple as the Model 8 alone in this game makes for two completely different perspectives. It's like we're playing two different games. AFAIK it's never been this stark of a contrast between the more common knowledge and statsfag educated intel (granted I was a normie when I started playing BF4 so I maybe didn't notice).

This was very stream-of-consciousness tier but I wanted to write down my thoughts at 4am while I was on a roll and whathaveyou. Thoughts?

Some guy argued this against the 5 round SLR's
"Guys... just look at the Battlefield Tracker data (Battlefield 1 Insights - Detailed Vehicle Statistics) the five shot rifles are some of the worst rated in terms of kills in the game. And more to the point, it's pretty hard to PTFO when you have to run away every 5 seconds to reload."
"Yes, but shouldn't less people using it indicate that most people think it's not good? And yes, he's PTFOing because of it's 1 shot 1 kill potential. Do you doubt the entire BF1 community's consensus on which weapons are good? According to how often they use them?"

That is pretty interesting . I honestly have that feeling of 'damn this may be op' when I run the Model 8 Factory, especially in Rush.

I think the community as a whole should really learn that popularity does not always mean best. Doubt that will happen though, purely because there is a lot of variety within the player base

Well but both sides have a point here, really. Of course the potential is great on a per engagement basis, but for a kill scenario you really need an accuarcy of 60%, and not many people get that. Also it is true that often enough you encoutner more than one enemy.

However with the higher TTK generally you are in trouble with all weapons when you meet two people compared to BF4.

Also the iron sights are not very accurate as well, so there is another reason to not use a gun with 5 bullets.

So I would say, the weapon is rightfully underused by the majority of the player base, but can shine more than others, if you can wield it. Although I daresay that the Marksman is a straight upgrade to the Factory version.

Aside from the high zoom being disorientating on a weapon usually best fitting close-mid range, the Marksman sights have a lot more sway.

Until you have 2 symthicians buddying up with Auto-8s, then you have a heap of assists counts as kills to boot. It wasn't intentional but eventually we got into a staggered firing rhythm and if a dude manage to survive the first firer he didn't survive the 2nd and both got a tick on the scoreboard :D fun times.

Speaking of pairing up. M95 infantry and Mp18 optical was fun too.

I used it with a x2 zoom, I believe and never had an issue with sway at all, especially when compared to BAs and I used the weapon at quite long ranges, too. Also the RDS have way more issues with being disorientating, through visual sway and animation. Also with the .35 the usual approach is to fire off the bullets in rapid succession, where sway is not much of an issue, I guess.

Lowest zoom is 2.50x, I find that far, far too much. If someone's close to you and moving, it's a nightmare to track them with high zoom. I usually prefer 1.50x.

I will agree with the following statement. 'The Model 8 is the worst gun if one is a terrible player; if they are bad at aiming and positioning and just flat out suck.'

In order to use the Model 8 efficiently, you actually have to use your brain. I know, it's a staggering concept especially for a multiplayer first person shooter. It's designed with the intelligent player and the serious player in mind and will be a heaping pile of garbage in the hands of the, frankly, dumb player and casual player. I don't just consider this an opinion on the matter, but a fact. The evidence is right there in these 'Model 8/ 1906 is terribad' videos.
To Aim Assist or not to Aim Assist, that is the question.

Nope. Aim Assist or bust; here's why:

Prepare your laughbox

the Sebstalder is quiet good since it can 3hit kill at any distanc ,but In my opinion i actually thikn the sweeper is better, its got a really really fast firerate that can beat alll those Noobmaticos, Helregall adn shitguns in close quarters , and its also really accurate out to like l;ong range,. overall great allround gun, jsut my 2$ tho
