DLC Gadget Speculation

As far as we know there will be no gadgets in They Shall Not Pass but what about DLCs past it?
I think the game has has a pretty good array of useful gadgets but I think there several things they can add that would be meaningful and balanced(maybe).
Something that has stuck with me since the beta datamine was the Schermuly rocket pistol, a rocket propelled grappling gun,
it was in the files with a description and everything but for some reason either because its being saved for DLC or it was scrapped we never saw it, I'm not sure if BF1 has the verticality of a game like Hardline to take full advantage but maps like St. Quentin's Scar, Ballroom Blitz and Sinai Desert would certainly make it useful enough in my eyes.
Something else that really bothers me is the fact that Scout got the trench shield not Support, obviously they could just add it to the Support class but seeing how they haven't made any cross-class gadgets I think it would make more sense to add a new one, for instance this Austrian design of a portable turret shield

Lastly, and this one would be a bit of a stretch, a surveillance pigeon,
it would probably control like a SUAV (except luckily its too fragile to ram people) and it would use a camera like the one in the barrage bomber but couldn't directly spot.
I want to hear your opinions on the addition of new gadgets and if you are in favor, what would you want to see?

A possibility with this expansion: a periscope rifle. They Shall not Pass seems to feature trench warfare in some capacity which would be ideal for a periscope rifle variation. No longer the case. But it isn't impossible for future expansions.
My initial thought was that it would be an all-kit, bolt-action rifle with *some* Self Loading Rifle characteristics. It would be a Gadget retaining 5 rounds that could be automatically resupplied. The periscope would utilize a 6x magnification optic, display scope glint when positioned and can only be used stationary while aimed down sight with the following statistics:

{Color coded to group stats of the same category}

  • Max. Damage: 75
  • Min. Damage: 55
  • Headshot Multiplier: 1.8x
  • Damage Dropoff: 20m - 50m
  • Rounds Per Minute: 60
  • Reload: 4s, reloads all 5 rounds at once and ejects any remaining like Gewehr M.95
  • Auto-Replenish Rate (requires for all rounds to be fired): 30s
  • Base Spread: 0.1 0.2 (just slightly better than the upcoming Model 10-A Slug spread)
  • Hip Spread: N/A
  • Moving Spread: N/A
  • Spread Increase per Shot: 0×1
  • Spread Decrease: 7.5
  • Recoil Up: 1.5
  • Recoil Left/ Right: 1.0
  • Recoil Decrease: 4.5
  • Velocity: 600m/s
  • Gravity: 12m/s^2
  • Drag: 0.0025

[The] implementation must be deployed (read: bipoded) while standing, can only be used while ADS, displays scope glint with 6x magnification, and only retains 5 rounds that can only be regenerated once completely empty.

With a Base Spread of 0.1 (or 0.15) 0.2 or 0.22 and a minimum damage of 55 this eliminates the possibility of one shot headshots at 50m and beyond relegating it to more of a body shot asset at further ranges. With only 5 rounds, 5 upper torso body shots is only enough to kill 2 full health opponents past 50m. It would be most effective for medium range headshots.

As an all-kit tool, it would imply sacrificing something of great importance to an Assault, Medic, Support, or Scout for a minor indirect fire advantage.
To Aim Assist or not to Aim Assist, that is the question.

Nope. Aim Assist or bust; here's why:

I think a Periscope Rifle would be cool but very iffy to implement, I think it would more sense to have it as a K-bullet style modification to your rifle as from what I have seen its just an attachment to the stock, seeing how it is two mirrors posed at a 45 degree angle it would make sense that instead of a proper ads you would be looking down the down the gun with a tight FOV and a rather accurate hipfire threshold, ROF could also be much slower due to the added distance between you and the bolt.
Obviously this is just as iffy as your suggestion but I think it would make more sense than a whole separate BA.

@Gecko99

Attachments don't exist though. Variants do. This would not even be remotely usable as a bolt-action variant because of its very extreme and situational usability. That's why I opted for its hypothetical implementation as a Gadget and why I considered it appropriate to revive the idea once this thread was devised. The idea of trench warfare in 'They Shall not Pass' was the situation I figured it would be ideal for. This isn't to say that future maps or content won't include trench warfare, but that They Shall not Pass' description seemed to focus on this aspect. Which is somewhat true considering the new Frontlines gamemode that will be available.

Unrelated, I noticed that your quotes can get a little jacked up, as in the format. I would recommend quoting text before selecting 'Reply' using either of these options:

Quote Text Directly - which, unhighlighted, quotes the entire message/ only quotes highlighted text

Select Message to Quote - which, unhighlighted, quotes the entire message/ only quotes highlighted text/ allows you to quote, highlighted or unhighlighted, multiple entries (varying from member to member) through archiving them and includes all selected quotes once the Reply icon is clicked

Just thought I'd help out a little if it was giving you a hard time. c:

Some ideas for Assault.

Blanch-Chevallier Grenade Laucher

Assault should have gotten a grenade launcher. One actually good against vehicles, that is. It's stupid that DICE gave such as thing to Medic (and later Support) instead. . .

Becker M11 "Tankabwehrkanone"

This was a semi-automatic only, ground-based anti-tank version of the 20mm autocannon that's featured on many of the vehicles in the game. It uses a ten to fifteen round magazine. This could also potentially be a deployable Support gadget also, I guess.

Bangalore Torpedo

A tube filled with explosives, mainly for clearing barbed wire. It'd perhaps act somewhat like a non-stick Limpet Charge with an ovoid-shaped explosion and remote detonation.

Gelignite

The original plastic explosive. Like C4 in previous games, it'd stick to vehicles. . . and maybe horses. It'd be 25%-30% more powerful than Dynamite, but you'd only hold two (making the overall damage output less).

@JSLICE20
I think I conveyed what I was trying to say poorly, when I said
I think it would more sense to have it as a K-bullet style modification to your rifle
I didn't mean variant or mod but a gadget that instead of being an entirely separate rifle is your current rifle only with a periscope device now attached,
an example is you are running the SMLE and to equip the Periscope device you press your gadget button and then your character attaches it.

Thanks for the advice when it comes to quoting, usually I do just do direct quote but recently I have been messing up by typing in someones quote and just decide to reset and quote from the messaging page, but your comment also made me realize that more often than not I don't need to quote and a simple @ would suffice.

Thanks :D

Ah, I see it now! That doesn't necessarily mean you explained it poorly though, I could just as well have had your statement just ricochet off my head instead of absorbing into my brain haha. XD

This works to some extent with Scouts (although the stats I attached would create confusion) and that animation would be fantastic, but I envision it as an all-class gadget, not a Scout specific. You can see how this would be problematic for anything but bolt actions, hence the separate rifle altogether.
To Aim Assist or not to Aim Assist, that is the question.

It's stupid that DICE gave such as thing to Medic (and later Support) instead. . .

Blanch-Chevallier Grenade Laucher

Assault should have gotten a grenade launcher. One actually good against vehicles, that is. It's stupid that DICE gave such as thing to Medic (and later Support) instead. . .
While it is cool and have no qualms with more stuff(because stuff is cool) I'm not sure if it's a very meaningful edition to the Assault class(not to mention any AT ability would be rather dubious).

I have wished there was a to use a semi-mobile infantry version of the autocannon and this would be one way to do it, obviously the fact that it is 60 pounds might turn off DICE alone but if it was added perhaps it could only be fired with a bipod and even then bounce higher than the T-Geweher as you are firing 20mm shells after all.
Bangalore Torpedor

A tube filled with explosives, mainly for clearing barbed wire. It'd perhaps act somewhat like a non-stick Limpet Charge with an ovoid-shaped explosion and remote detonation.
If it would function at all like the Bangalore in Saving Private Ryan then sign me up!
Seriously though I would love an entrenching tool and a Bangalore would be great for such a role.
Gelignite

The original plastic explosive. Like C4 in previous games, it'd stick to vehicles. . . and maybe horses. It'd be 25%-30% more powerful than Dynamite, but you'd only hold two (making the overall damage output less).
I think DICE doesn't want to add remote detonation sticky explosives as they are great for ramming.
