What is the difference betweent .300 Savage and .35 Rem?

It is a more modern "spitzer"bullet, which can get up to 800m/s (equal to the Mondragon / 1906 / M1916 in-game), compared to the .35 Remington's 660m/s.

However, it was introduced in 1920, and Model 8s in .300 Savage was not made until 1926... so we will not get to play with it in BF1. The only reason why I included that in the video description, is that it has higher recoil than the .35 Remington... so that "action" video is not wholly indicative of how the in-game Auto-8 Factory would perform under stress.

Still, it is nice to see it being put through its paces.

Updated "Scoring" charts. Now I "scored" each test case, then added the scores together. Before I was adding all the results together, then scoring. This new way produced rankings that pretty much matches my gameplay experience, and unfortunately does eat into the Auto-8 .35 Marksman's overall lead. All in all, though, it is still on top.

Here are the % advantages between the Auto-8 .35 Marksman vs. the M1916 Marksman, for 1v2 (yes, 1v2, so don't give me that BS about how the Auto-8 is "only good for a very specific encounter but the M1916 is better in real gameplay")

Shooting to deal 200 damage: 29% faster

Recovering from making those shots: 2% faster

Reloading your spent bullets: 50% slower

V-Recoil you feel: 14% lower

Bullet velocity: 17% slower

3 things out of 5 are better with the Auto-8, and if you ask me, those are the 3 most important things when it comes to "performance." Reload and Velocity can be compensated by controlling your engagements and learning to lead / holdover. RoF (and its associated Recovery) and V-Recoil are set stats, and thus outside user's control.

A blurb on the 1906.... The Pedersen rifle competed against the M1 Garand for adoption, and came REALLY close to becoming that iconic infantry rifle of WW2 / Korea. It still has a fairly vocal fanbase today. It uses the same style of "toggle-lock" blowback mechanism as the Luger. So, if you're a fan of John Pedersen, or just cool engineering in general, use the 1906 in BF1!

Though, unfortunately the Pedersen trumps the 1906 by using 10rnds en-bloc clips. Imagine that on our 1906... OMG.

Here is a video of a REALLY NICE one, made by Vickers: Pedersen Selfloading Rifle at RIA - YouTube Estimated to worth $16k to $22k USD.

Ian from Forgotten Weapons is an "official" source, because he is in the BF1 Credits as a Special Thanks.
He is also awesome and should be canonized as Gun Jesus.

Fun fact: companies like Hornady make modern spitzer loads in .35 Remington today.

I thought Spitzer bullets with its spire tip and boat tails were to improve its ballistic coefficient. I.e reduce its rate of drop off. I'm no handload guru but I pretty sure the muzzle Velocity of a round depends on weight of the bullet vs amount of powder and the length of barrel.

Also I remember hearing from someone the .308win aka 7.62 x 54 NATO was developed based on the savage .300.

Oh and lol..after watching Forgotten Weapons video on the model 8, with so much friction surfaces I reckon outside of maybe Amiens it wouldn't work after a few clips :D. Cool looking firearm nevertheless. Just wish I was competent enough to land 3 out of 5 rounds everytime. I've been using it as much as I can the last two days, too often I fire 2 double taps and hit the guy 2x. Then I'm standing there thinking "should I stay or should i go..."

The chief flaw of the model 8 is that the reload animation isn't sexy enough. It's a five round magazine, you're going to be staring at it a ton, it needs to have style and flair.

Can someone explain those Hrec changes for the SLR's listed? Because they seem don't match the current values according to the data table.

I understand that I must be mis-interpreting and also not having my morning coffee as yet, so if someone can elaborate that'd be great :) Cheers.
