Then there is the lack of passworded servers, which essentially makes the rest of this entirely moot because you can't have any sort of organized play if any random dude can join the server you're trying to use, take a slot away from one of your players, and drive your tank off a cliff.



I've heard that password protected servers exist now. So now were at step one complete only ~4435 to go :pinch:

That's good. I wish that had been in for launch though, might have been able to do something with the momentum then.

the Sebstalder is quiet good since it can 3hit kill at any distanc ,but In my opinion i actually thikn the sweeper is better, its got a really really fast firerate that can beat alll those Noobmaticos, Helregall adn shitguns in close quarters , and its also really accurate out to like l;ong range,. overall great allround gun, jsut my 2$ tho

Back when we did SYM 32 vs 32 I found it worked decently well and I personally found it enjoyable, I cannot see something like 20 vs 20 working well on the full sized maps on account of the amount of vehicles available and the otherwise lack of infantry that would arise. A lot of infantry is needed to counteract a vehicle and if it was 20 vs 20 you would have somewhere like 2 thirds of the team in vehicles.

It would be interesting to see strategies evolving however.


This what 32s end up looking like for many players. Regardless of what game BF3, 4, 1 or whatever. There are always gonna be roles like this.

I don't know what BF1 equivalent would be but I'm sure it would be found quickly if 32s started. Granted there are much much more fun strategies that would develop I'm sure. Strats like this tend to be the strongest.


Well, there is but it would require a bit of co-ordination.

3 mortars spotted for by a recon or plane.

1. All 3 Fire for effect just before a section of 8 troops advance.

2. Repeat as they get into the fight through (just watch for smh/shottie kills) around 10m from the front line.

3. Once lead section are in and reserve is isolating the 2nd objective pound positions forward of the objective.

For the D team it's a case of counter battery and trying to nail the assault line.


Would say 32 mortars going off simultaneously be an even better option? I can't say but rounds do get expended.

IDK about a comp based BF but I've been saying for a long time now that LA is making their own BF based on the positions they have been hiring for.

Yeah, as soon as you have anything less then 32s it needs to get cut down. In BF4 some maps like Golmud Railway was like hell, okay all the squads get a vehicle. -.- it was nuts to try and develop a strat for. So even on conquest small doing 10s..there were to many vehicles. So we would have to make rules like only one tank or one lav out at a time. But now then you pretty much have zero re-spawn time. So trying to correct the issue you bought up kinda develops more issues. Its was a pain.

Your forgetting something very key about mortars. Counter-mortaring. In BF3 mortar mechanics were different. You would have to run around, find a random spot, then deploy, do the best you can to aim as fast as possible, fire, then run away ASAP and watch a mortar round land where you were just standing. It was insanely intense to do actually. Maps where mortars are most useful like are the closer range maps where people cluster together. Aragon, Amiens, etc. This would put many mortars in range of enemy mortars. Actually BF1 Amiens would play out ALOT like BF3 Sine Crossing. BF1 mortar mechanics wouldn't allow for that scenario to play out as it did in BF3. However they would spend most their time counter mortaring.

around 1:40 listen to the guy complain how fast he was counter mortared. Actually listen to how often mortars and counter mortars are called out for.

This is where e-sports needs to look to it's predecessor (physical sports) for answers. Every game has the capacity for (ab)use of mechanics that make things less fun. Think of things like those nasty scissor leg tackles in soccer (sorry I don't know the name) or spike tackles in rugby (piledriving the guys head into the ground by having three men lift his legs and one wrap up his arms) underarm bowling in cricket, etc etc. Rules can be made to keep things 'sporting'.

This is exactly what I was getting at with competitive/play-to-win players, and how they need to be looked at to properly balance the game, but put much simpler. ^^
