Game completely fucked after patch, (then unfucked again after another patch).

Pre-patch I was running this game at a mixture of ultra and high settings with a pretty steady 60-80fps, post patch my previous settings were running me at about 30 - 50 fps with cpu/gpu usage sitting at 40% - 60% compared to previous 70% - 100%. I changed to all low settings, still averaging about 40-50fps. I've seen quite a few people complaining of the same issues. After such a smooth, relatively painless launch, it's especially annoying they broke the game with a patch. Not to mention DX12 is now totally broken, they didn't fix the fps overlay bug and there seems to be HUGE input lag (might just be casue of lowered fps though).

What the actual fuck DICE, did you even test this patch?

Looks like performance issues are now mostly fixed as of the December patch.

Have you tried using DirectX 11 instead with DirectX 12 off?

Probably a ton of people tested the patch. However there are more than a thousand different hardware/software combinations, and it only takes one semi-common one to horribly break it down for people. DX12 is new anyways, and I am not surprised it doesn't run on such complicated game (and one that was not designed for these new APIs originally).
Links to users' thread list who have made analytical/statistical/mathematical/cool posts on Symthic:
  • 3VerstsNorth - Analysis of game mechanics in BF4 (tickrates, effects of tickrate, etc)
  • leptis - Analysis of shotguns, recoil, recoil control and air drag.
  • Veritable - Scoring of BF4/BF1 firearms in terms of usability, firing and other mechanics.
  • Miffyli - Random statistical analysis of BF4 battlereports/players and kill-distances. (list is cluttered with other threads).
Sorry if your name wasn't on the list, I honestly can't recall all names : ( . Nudge me if you want to be included

You're right, however a quick google seems to suggest this is a relatively common issue affecting a variety of hardware configurations from AMD, Intel and Nvidia.

DX12 immediately crashes the game now.

AMD, Intel, and Nvidia? That's just about everything.

DX12 immediately crashes the game now.

Try and see if this solution works for you.

It's not that bug, it's a new one, the game won't even launch in DX12 and the error message is non-specific even in event viewer.

The entire first 2 pages or so of the PC section of the new battlelog is people complaining about various performance and graphics problems introduced in the new patch.

I don't know, playing with low mesh is pretty nauseating. Things popping in and out of existence fast enough it looks like half the objects are flashing.

Also, Suez is still the worst map in the BF franchise.

I'm getting pretty bad performance too, especially noticeable on Empire's Edge on C/D and the closest point to Austro-Hungarian spawn

The funny thing is that I haven't updated my drivers, still on the one before 375.86
