Can you post SpottingComponentData as well?

So the radius in which one can inflict suppression is increased (1.5m ->2.2), that's good and something I've wanted.

It appears suppression has been made harder to set off, but easier to keep up.

Perhaps unnecessary as the numbers might not be final, but could someone who knows more than I do explain exactly what's changed (for the less obvious values)?

For ease, changes from Bf4 in green:

So we still don't know what suppression does exactly. Bah.

Xfactor's video which shows that optic sway is back in all it's glory, and visual effects are also far more severe than BF4.

A good player should be able to fire back accurately through the sway and visual effects...and I honestly hope that's all there is to suppression. I hope it doesn't fuck with spread/recoil/etc.

Clearly, we should punish players with weaker aiming skills by only having suppression affect them. Because obviously, the more talented players need assistance against already inferior players.

If mechanics like suppression exist (functionally a damage debuff, mostly.) then they should be usable and relevant.

Saying you should be able to overcome Suppression through "skill" is the basically same as saying you should be able to take less health damage though "skill".

We'll probably have to wait for brain-linked VR before we can have personal willpower affecting game mechanics.

Indeed. The results of the Great Suppression Experiment so far:
BF3: retarded, hated
Early BF4: slightly less retarded, less hated
Late BF4: irrelevant

Glad to be guinea pigs of those 1-2 specific dumb fucks in DICE who can't grasp the why physical suppression effects aren't working since 2011, or why trains don't have square wheels.

But hey, the mission continues. Lets see how long it takes in BF1 before DICE nerf it to being irrelevant again - if it ends up being too intrusive then it's only a matter of time. As a community we just have to keep beating sense into them, it's an interesting cycle

I think you misunderstood. I was talking about the current state of BF1 where a good player CAN (hopefully) return fire through suppression effects if they're good enough. Ideally suppression shouldn't even exist, but it does so I'm hoping it's not too intrusive (like late BF4).

Ideally:

- LMG's should be the only weapons that can surpass minimum suppression threshold
- Suppression effects fall off within 2 seconds once the firing stops

So can we agree that the best solution is for mechanics like suppression to simply not exist in shooters? It's pretty clear DICE have just been trying to force it into the game since 2011 and have utterly failed so far, seeing how they KEEP CHANGING IT.

Imagine finding other ways to make LMG's useful and unique, like being the only full-auto weapons that can kill effectively at medium range and have decently sized magazines/belts.

What is suppression other than an LMG user reducing the effective damage that can be delivered to them by using their "skill" to suppress the enemy?

Why shouldn't the enemy be able to use their own "skill" to counter that ability, instead of their only option being to run away and take cover? Options are good, right?

Mind explaining how late BF4 Suppression is irrelevant?

These mechanics should exist in shooters. In the end it's a video game. Why not embrace it?

The countermeasure to Suppression is not aim. It is positioning.
